Linking Product Categories to User Accounts

When the product categories feature is enabled, FlexNet Operations filters what customer users see based on the product categories linked to the users’ accounts. Only line items that include products in categories to which the user account is linked are visible.

Important: A user account cannot be linked to product categories until the user has been linked to organizations.

The product categories feature can be enabled in Administer Operations > System Configuration > FlexNet Operations > Show Product Categories function.

To link product categories to a user account

1. On the Create a User page, click Link Categories. This button opens the Select Categories for the User page in a popup window.
2. On the Select Categories for the User page, check the categories you want to link, and click OK.

Product categories are linked to the current user account when you click OK. It is only necessary to save the user account if you have made other changes to the user.

To remove product categories from a user account

1. On the Create a user page, check the categories you want to remove and click Remove Categories.
2. Click OK to confirm the removal.
