To create a transaction key

2. Click Create Transaction Key in the License Models section of the left navigation pane.
3. Provide values for the following fields. Required fields are indicated on the page with a red asterisk.

Transaction Key Fields

Field

Description

Name

Name to uniquely identify this transaction key: The name can contain spaces and can be changed at any time.

Description

Describe the characteristics of this transaction key that makes it unique. The description can be changed at any time.

Publisher ID

Select a publisher ID from the drop-down list to associate with this transaction key. The publisher IDs are taken from the set of publisher.xml files. (Consult the FlexNet Operations Implementation Guide for more information on multiple publisher.xml files.)

Transaction Key Seeds

Enter 8 unique 32-bit hexadecimal numbers as key seeds. (See example below.) Do not specify the same seeds in a transaction key that are specified in publisher.xml. These key seeds cannot be edited after the transaction key is saved.

Example 32-bit Hexadecimal Number: 2e24ec82

A single 32-bit hexadecimal number consists of 4 pairs of 2 valid hex digits. Valid hexadecimal digits are 0-9 and A-F.

Binding Type

Select a binding type for the transaction key. Choose from

Default Fingerprint—Binds to supported physical machines and virtual machines. The transaction key is used to configure trusted storage by the physical machine’s characteristics.
Virtualization-aware Fingerprint—Binds to supported virtual machines only. The transaction key is used to configure trusted storage by the virtual machine’s VMID.

For trusted licensing, a product can have up to two transaction keys—one default transaction key and one virtualization-aware transaction key.
