Moving a Device

FlexNet Operations 2014

A device that has not yet been assigned as sold-to a customer can be moved from your organization to a related organization. For example, the parent organization can move the device from one of its child organizations (a regional division, for instance) to another child organization.

Note: When a device is moved, any entitlements that belong to that device are moved as well. The result of such a move is to either create new entitlements for the receiving organization or to increment the count of that organization’s existing (and matching) entitlements by the count on the device that was moved.

To move a device

1. On the Manage Devices page, click the tab for the type of device to move. Choose either Clients or Servers.
2. Select the device you want to move from the devices list.
3. Click Move. This button opens the Move Device page.
4. On the Move Device page, set the Target Organization:
a. Click the Search Organization button to open the Select Organization page in a pop up window.
b. Select the customer organization to which you want to move the device.
c. Click OK. This button closes the Select Organization window and returns you to the Move Device page. Note that the Target Organization is now set to the organization you selected.
5. On the Move Device page, choose a setting for Pool Line Items:
Yes—If matching entitlements exist in the target organization, those entitlements are incremented by the counts in the device’s entitlements (add-ons). Otherwise, if no matching entitlements exist, new entitlements are created at the target organization.
No—The device’s entitlements create new entitlements at the target organization, even if matching entitlements already exist.
6. Click Submit.
