FlexNet Operations 2014
When you receive a keyboard activation request code from a FlexNet Embedded-enabled device, use the Generate Response link on the Manage Devices page to create a keyboard activation response code for that request.
A keyboard activation response code for an FNE-enabled device can be downloaded as a text file that contains the response code.
Important: The keyboard activation request code generated on the device must use the same encoding that FlexNet Operations uses to decode such request codes from FNE-enabled devices. Likewise, the keyboard activation response code generated by FlexNet Operations must use the same encoding that the FNE client on the device uses to decode keyboard activation response codes. (However, it is possible for the request codes to use a different encoding than the response codes.) The encoding used in FlexNet Operations can be set on the system configuration page for devices, Configuring Embedded Devices Settings .
To generate a keyboard activation response code
1. | On the Manage Devices page, click Generate Response. This link opens the Keyboard Activation page. |
2. | Type the Request Code generated on the FNE-enabled device. |
3. | Type the Activation ID of a line item or a web register key to activate on the device. The activation ID must belong to the same product or suite that the license template is associated with. |
4. | Click Validate. For valid request code and activation ID combinations, FlexNet Operations shows the controls for setting the expiration date and requested copy count. |
5. | Enter an optional expiration date for the activation. This date must be on or before the expiration date of the line item to be activated. If no expiration date is set, the expiration date of the response code is inherited from the expiration date of either the line item or the license template—whichever expiration date is earlier becomes the expiration date of the response code. |
6. | Specify the number of Requested Copies. This number must be less than or equal to the total line item copies. For uncounted license models, Requested Copies must be 1. |
Note: The Requested Copies count cannot be lower than previously requested counts on the same device, as this would constitute a return. Returns of keyboard activations on FNE-enabled devices are not supported.
7. | Click Activate. FlexNet Operations shows the response code at the bottom of the page. This code can be relayed to the device user directly or downloaded as a text (.txt) file. |
When keyboard activations have been performed for a device, the device details page includes a Keyboard Activations table that shows the line items, products, requested copies, consumed copies, copies remaining, and license state. The Keyboard Activation table is not shown when no keyboard activation response codes have been generated for the device.
