FlexNet Operations 2014
You can assign products to product categories, which can be used to define access rights to product information for users. In addition, product categories can be used to group products for search and reporting purposes.
Note: Product categories are disabled by default. To enable product categories, select Administer Operations > System Configuration > FlexNet Operations, then click the Show Product Categories Functionality checkbox.
To assign a product to a category
| 1. | On the Package Products page, click Search and click the product to be categorized. |
| 2. | Navigate to the Map Product to Category page, and search for a Product Category to be assigned to the product. |
| 3. | Click a category; then click OK. On the Map Product to Category page, the selected category appears in the Product Category field followed by any defined product category attributes. |
| 4. | Enter values for any required product category attributes (marked with a red asterisk). Optionally, enter values for any optional attributes. |
| 5. | Click Save to save the mapping, or click Next to review recently created products. |
To grant a user access to a product category, link the category to the user’s account. See Linking Product Categories to User Accounts.
