FlexNet Operations 2014
One-time activation of a FlexNet Embedded device means that the client device is activated only once and is not expected to contact the local license server again. The FlexNet Embedded local license server activates the device and syncs the license count with FlexNet Operations; the license cannot be refreshed or returned, and there are no add-on capabilities. Once activated (and unlike a managed device that can contact the local license server), a one-time activation client device is not managed by the local license server.
Note: One-time activation is only supported on server devices.
Note: One-time activation served client devices are not shown on the FlexNet Operations user interface.
If the FlexNet Embedded local license server is expected to serve one-time activation clients, then it must not allow returns or unmapping of add-ons. To ensure that add-on returns are not allowed:
1. | Define an embedded license model attribute (boolean one_time_activation, for example) and set its value on the license model (true). |
2. | Create a product with some features in it and associate the license model created in step 1. |
3. | Create a line item with the above product in it. |
4. | Map the line item as an add-on to the server device. |
Implement a callout to deny decrease or unmapping of add-on copies for devices that have this attribute (see the OnetimeActivationDeviceRequestHandler sample in <ops_install_dir>\site\samples\device).
