Resetting Sync Data
FlexNet Operations 2014
As transactions occur between Flexnet Embedded (FNE) servers and FNE devices, the FNE server incrementally updates the data it stores about the status and activations of the FNE devices it manages. The FNE server creates served client records for new devices and updates the data it carries about its existing devices. The FNE server syncs with its backup/redundant server (when a second device ID is provided for that FNE server), and also syncs with FlexNet Operations. (The sending of sync data to FlexNet Operations is configured by device manufacturers when building the FNE server application.)
The benefits of the sync process include
|
•
|
The sync messages ensure that FNE servers operating without a backup server can be efficiently restored or replaced in the event of a failure. |
|
•
|
The sync messages carry vendor dictionary information. With each sync, you gain valuable visibility into how your customers are using the served client devices and what features they are using on them. |
Note: You can view the sync messages by viewing the device’s history. The history of an FNE server shows sync messages related to all its served clients while the history of a served client shows only the messages specific to that client device. See Viewing Device History.
The sync data stored on FlexNet Operations servers can be reset, if necessary. Resetting sync removes all served clients and the timestamp for the last synchronization, which causes the FNE server to re-send all served client records with the next sync.
