What is a License Return?

A license return involves removing the license rights from a system and transferring the license rights back to an entitlement line item, generally in order to allow a different license to be created. The number of allowed license returns per unit time per entitlement line item can be governed by a policy on the license model or entitlement line item.

Most trusted returns are done programmatically, but they can also be done through the FlexNet Operations Administrative Console or Self-Service Portal.
